Carpal Tunnel
Every day, assembly line workers, keyboard operators, grocery store clerks, and many others, receive micro-traumas to their hands and wrists. Vibration and repetitive motions, when combined with spinal problems and other joint dysfunction, can result in a condition known as carpal tunnel syndrome.
Symptoms may include pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, or a loss of strength in the hands.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Is Very Common
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is a very common problem and one of the leading causes of work related injuries. The carpal tunnel is a small space in the wrist made up of wrist bones (carpal bones) and a ligament on top, through which 9 tendons and the median nerve travel into the hand.
CTS is often times caused by prolonged use of our hands and wrists (repetitive stress). As a result, one or more of the small bones in the wrist become misaligned; placing pressure on the median nerve in the wrist. Symptoms initially include numbness or tingling, followed later by weakness in the muscles innervated by the median nerve. This often results in grip and pinch strength loss, dropping of pens, difficulty buttoning a shirt, waking up at night with numbness in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fingers of the involved hand and driving induced numbness.
Nerve Compression. Often, there is also misalignment of one or more of the veretbras in the lower neck that causes carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms. It is IMPERATIVE that both the neck and wrist misalignments are corrected first before considering any other therapy/surgery.
Fortunately, the Ventura Spinal Care Center uses the computerized “Pro-Adjuster” system to gently and effective realign the bones in the neck and or wrist, removing the nerve compression. This allows the body to heal iteself naturally. We also incorporate the “cold laser” light therapy system that has been approved for use with the Carpal Tunnel stiffness to reduce pain and inflammation.
Our natural therapies have helped many CTS sufferers return to a pain-free existence!
